The Center
Purpose
To increase the use and sophistication of information technology in research and teaching in the university. The Environmental and Agricultural Informatics Center's functions are to:

Serve as an informational and educational resource for the campus and the public in environmental and agricultural information technology through the establishment and maintenance of a Web site;

Provide consulting to faculty, staff, students, extension personnel, and others in the use of information technology in environmental and agricultural applications;

Develop short courses on the use of information technology in the environmental and agricultural fields for the campus community, University Extension personnel, and the public;

Assist in curriculum development as well as training in established courses currently offered in information technology.
Informatics Center Office

Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 12 noon and 1-5 p.m.

Environmental Computing Labs
The lab in 1137 PES (Plant and Environmental Sciences) contains 32 student workstations. There is a second lab located in 253 Hunt Hall containing 26 workstations. The computing labs are designed for regularly scheduled teaching and training (scheduled classes, workshops, short courses, etc.) and for assigned work associated with those classes.
The lab supports the following software packages: ArcGIS, MS Office, Sophos Anti-Virus, and SAS. Instructors who wish to have specialized software installed in the lab must provide this software to the lab technology support coordinator in sufficient time. The deadline for software and data installation requests is 30 days prior to the start of the quarter in which the software is to be used. The labs are jointly managed by the departments of Plant Sciences; Environmental Science and Policy; Land, Air and Water Resources; Landscape Architecture.
